Mission:
The Relics of Isonzo
Location: Main Bridge, Deck One
Summary: Concurrent with "Cool Tension," "Full Stop" takes place on the Bridge as the crew get their first scans of the massive ion storm that is radiating out into Isonzo's outer system from it's star.
Timeline: Mission Day 1 at 1030
"All hands, go to Yellow Alert! Non-essential personnel report immediately to inner bulkhead secure zones and standby for any instructions." Captain Tobias Bach was not in his chair, but was instead hovering over the shoulder of his Vulcan Engineer at station. He was studying the schematic readouts of Timo Schaeffer's ministrations for a hull polarizing field. He raised his head, "Mr. Ibanez, all stop. Bring us to within 700 kilometers of the Zheng He. Mr. Sanders, standby on our uplink with the Zheng He as well. Get me Commodore zh'Vari." he instructed.
He then glanced away, "Mr. Relix," he addressed the Denobulan at the Science console. "You'll be liaising with Muldowney and our science officers in Deflector Control."
"Aye, captain," Kevin replied as he slowed down the Ulysses's speed, dropping impulse power until they were down to maneuvering thrusters only as he brought the ship closer to the Zheng He. "All engines at stop. Holding position 700 kilometers from the Zheng He."
Giving no verbal acknowledgment to the instructions he'd been given, Toby simply got to work. Any excitement the Ops officer might've felt was largely overshadowed by concentration. He was ensuring the ship had what it needed to for safe operation as they would venture further into an area of space that would pose an increasing degree of risk the longer they would remain, "Uplink standing by Captain, and i've opened a channel to the Zheng He."
"Thank you Mr. Saunders," Bach said. The viewscreen blinked to the stern countenance of a middle-aged Andorian woman, the lines of her face both weathered and rather severe. Her antennae curled with mild interest toward the crew of the Ulysses. In the background, a Denobulan man hovered, pleasantly smiling and issuing orders with gestures of his hand.
zh'Vari proved to be her usual taciturn self. She turned attention to a panel beep on her armchair, "Ulysses, we are ready. Initiate your end of the uplink." Tobias nodded to Relix and Sturnack to begin. zh'Vari's panel chirped again. She blinked fierce blue-gray eyes, "Link established..." She reported. Her antennae flexed up and yawned, then contracted. "Science stations, initiate full sensor sweeps." Tobias touched his comm, sending a silent signal to Ayda and Ovrora they could begin.
Her reply was short of immediate and Tobias could feel some tension in the voice, "Bridge. Navigational Control. Sensor domes are online and the arrays are as good as they'll get. We're crosslinked into the Zheng He's." The voice was Ayda's.
Tobias touched keys again, leaning to the interface, ""Nice work down there. Keep us posted." He flipped off the comm. "We're ready here, Commodore," he reported to the Andorian woman.
Commodore zh'Vari nodded a cool bob of her head once. "Keep me informed. Zheng-He out." The screen blinked back to the overwhelming expanse of turbulent energy.
"Alright folks," Bach turned in the chair to address his crew, "Get what you can. Keep me informed. Tactical, you have the CONN. I'm taking five minutes for a cup of coffee." He said to the blonde woman at the Tactical station.
Ensign Sturnack -- seated at the Engineering station -- looked up from his readouts to watch Bach depart, nodding as the man passed by. Once he'd gone, the Vulcan arched his right eyebrow -- a sure sign of his curiosity. "Was the Commodore upset by our actions? She seemed most displeased," he commented dryly, eyes drifting to Caspian before roving around the Bridge. His question had been to no one in particular; Sturnack simply hoped someone could officer insight into why zh'Vari seemed less than enthused.
"The question of the day, Mr. Sturnack," Tobias Bach replied dryly. "I'd never call her perky but that was moody even for the Commodore."
